Deadline looms for submission of meter readings for Tshwane dwellers

“The community’s failure will mean that the municipality will submit estimated readings.”

Tshwane residents are advised to submit their meter readings to avoid being overcharged by the municipality.

Residents’ failure to submit their readings will result in them being overcharged by the metro as it would be forced to estimate consumption.

According to local ward councillor, David Farquharson the community members were made aware of the date when readings are done.

“The new dates have been shared on social media,” he said.

Farquharson said residents who queried their bill should do so via the Zoom platform the municipality created for a seamless interaction with customers.

Local ward councillor Shaun Wilkinson also urged residents to take note of when readings are to be submitted.

He urged residents to submit their readings on time to avoid being overcharged and to also save themselves the stress of dealing with the back and forth in trying to resolve the problem.

“The community’s failure will mean that the municipality will submit estimated readings, so to avoid that residents should comply.

“This system aims to bring convenience to residents and also to help them to monitor themselves on how much electricity they consume.”

Earlier this year the municipality introduced the Zoom meeting platforms as a way of creating seamless communication directly with their customers.

The platform’s primary focus is on critical services such as account and billing queries, corrections of estimations, credit control and assistance with repayment arrangements, repairs of water leakages, and faulty electricity meters.

According to the metro, the platform also sought to address indigent-related queries and registration.
