Hammanskraal residents want safe and clean community
Community members of Hammanskraal decided to form a neighbourhood watch to patrol the streets of unit D.

Tshwane’s oversight committee chair for community safety is working on a plan to make sure that Hammanskraal remains safe and clean.
Councillor Thabang Sebotsane hosted a CPF and general community meeting at PHL Moraka high school in Temba, at which a decision to form a neighbourhood watch to patrol the streets of unit D was taken.
Rekord spoke to Sebotsane regarding problems in the area that affect Hammanskraal community members.
Sebotsane said they held a meeting which aimed at addressing concerns around crime and service delivery.
He said he also outlined the community activities for the month as well as gave a report on the criminal incidents dealt with.
He highlighted several incidents ranging from attempted housebreaking and theft incidents that were dealt with in the past two months.
Other issues that were highlighted in the meeting included the Rooiwal wastewater plant, and the indigent programme, which the elderly in the area were not aware.
He also answered questions about rates and taxes, and water bills for water that was not consumed.
“In as much as there are still incidents that are dealt with, the community agreed that these crimes are decreasing and arrests were made,” he said.
He also said that community members asked for access control to be put in place in certain areas to limit movement at certain times after hours.
Residents were encouraged to blow the whistle against corruption in metro police and emergency services.
“With the neighbourhood watch patrol in place community members hope that Hammanskraal unit D will be a safe place for people to live in,” he said.
Date for reopening of crematorium to be announced in August
