Vehicle stolen in house robbery recovered after robbers involved in accident

Police recovered a car stolen in a house robbery after it crashed into two other vehicles.

Members of the Tshwane Flying Squad and partners recently recovered a vehicle that was stolen during a house robbery in Soshanguve.

The car, a silver Kia Rio valued at R120 000 was taken during a house robbery in Temba this past weekend.

Police were able to recover the vehicle after it had gotten into an accident with two other vehicles.

“We managed to recover the vehicle next to house no 255 at ext. 5 Block SS in Soshanguve, Jukulyn. The vehicle was abandoned after it became involved in an accident with two vehicles,” said spokesperson, Sgt Legodi.

A fingerprint expert was called to the scene to pick up prints from the car.

Pretoria North’s local criminal record centre (LCRC) was called to the scene to process the vehicle before it was taken to the Pretoria West impound for further analysis.

The vehicle was recovered through Cartrack technology.

The squad also recovered a stolen orange Toyota Hilux Legend 50 fitted with false registration plates, which was reported stolen in Sunnyside.

The Hilux, valued at R900 000, was recovered in Boekenhoutkloof, Pretoria West without any suspects.

A fingerprint expert, as well as Ga-Rankuwa LCRC, were called in to process the vehicle and it was later taken to the Pretoria West impound.

The vehicle was tracked with the assistance of Matrix technology.

Motorists are cautioned to ensure that their vehicles are locked properly before they leave them unattended, beware of all their surroundings while driving and consider investing in a tracking device.
