Exclusive Moms’ Night Out event a roaring success

Mothers and friends of Laerskool Anton van Wouw were treated to a special runway show in a new annual fundraising event.

A luxury brand fashion designer, local businesses and the mothers of Laerskool Anton van Wouw joined hands recently to stage a fundraising event that is set to become a highlight on the annual social calendar.

Hundreds of women attended the event aimed at raising funds for the Anton van Wouw Trust, which invests in the future of the school.

The women were treated to a runway show with models showcasing the designs of Cape Town-based Polish designer, Kat van Duinen, as well as the work of local designers before competitively, yet generously, bidding for a collection of luxury items and experiences.

Lot items for the special auction came from a range of sponsors including large businesses and parents from the school.

According to organiser, Salomé le Roux, the evening was a roaring success.

“I personally wanted these ladies, who might never have been to a live runway, to have a special experience. It was a wonderful way to celebrate women and their beauty.”

The evening kicked off with a runway fashion show as about 240 women, united by the school, got an exclusive experience.

Once the runway got everyone in a good mood, the auction began with one of the dresses that was modelled in the show.

“I think that the auction was also a unique experience for many of the women,” said Le Roux.

“They might never have been to one, or if they have found that men usually do the bidding.”

The auction didn’t end on the night, continuing online until Friday, August 11.

“I was very happy with how the event turned out. When you go through all the trouble of organising something like this and making the effort to attend, you really hope it ends up being memorable and impactful, and I think we achieved that goal.

“At the end of the day, we made some good money for the school and I think the girls really enjoyed it too,” Le Roux concluded.
