Passengers ejected from overturned taxi on the R80 highway

Gauteng paramedics have treated a male patient at the accident scene of an overturned taxi. Passengers were injured when they were thrown from the vehicle.

Multiple passengers were thrown out from a minibus taxi that rolled on the R80 Mabopane highway on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened next to the Rosslyn offramp, where a minibus taxi believed to be from North West province lost control.

Tshwane Emergency Services responded to the scene at around 06:02.

The Tshwane Emergency Services Department arrived on the scene to find a minibus taxi that had overturned,” said spokesperson and deputy chief Charles Mabaso.

Mabaso said patients were already transported by various ambulance services to nearby medical facilities.

Paramedics also treated a male patient who sustained moderate to serious injuries on the scene at the arrival.

“The patient was transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition,” he said.

No fatalities were recorded.

Mabaso said the cause of the accident has not yet been determined but will form part of a police investigation.
