Collectors pleased with what car boot sale has to offer
The proceeds of the Groenkloof market pay off a young woman’s university fees.
A love for vintage goods attracted scores of Pretorians to the seventh My Car Boot sale in Groenkloof at the weekend.
Felicia Bornman said she always attended the sale as it was easy for her to get everything she wanted.
“I love vintage stuff and it’s of good quality, unlike these days’ items whereby they only last for a few months. The only challenge is that one has to wake up very early to get what you want,” Bornman said.

Jaco Malan echoed Bornman’s sentiments by saying the sale was a new way of finding good quality goods at very low prices.
“It is much better to come here and buy things at a very reasonable price. I mean, one will find anything and everything that you can think of. I don’t know how many clothing items I have bought here over the years and they are still in good shape as well,” said Malan.
One of the young sellers at the market, Ruby-Lee Berman said she enjoyed selling here as the proceeds make a difference to her life.
“I almost attend most of the markets in the city, and the reason I do that is because most of the money I make here, helps me pay my tuition fees at the university.
“It also helps me plan for my future, so I am enjoying selling items here,” Lee Berman said.

According to event organiser Helga Roper, the market allowed anyone to come and sell and showcase their work.
“We allow anyone to come and sell things here but we only allow things made by hand, not bought from stores,” Roper added.
