Driver suffers minor injuries as two trucks collide on N1

Police had to intervene following the accident as people reportedly tried to loot alcohol from one of the trucks.

One male driver sustained minor injuries when two trucks collided on the N1 south towards Pretoria.

Tshwane EMS spokesperson Charles Mabaso confirmed the incident, saying that members of the emergency services had been dispatched to the scene.

“One of the truck drivers was transported to the nearby hospital. He sustained minor injuries. The road is currently closed for further investigation,” Mabaso added.

He said law enforcement members had to intervene when people tried to loot one of the trucks carrying alcoholic beverages.

Mabaso also said they were awaiting a thorough report regarding the accident, as well as police investigations.

The N1 is becoming notorious for accidents.

Earlier this year a man died following an accident at the Proefplaas N1 interchange.

Motorists are urged to be extra careful given the current wet conditions on the roads.
