Traditional healer predicts that GBV will decrease in Mamelodi this year
Baba Mahlasela says gender-based violence in Mamelodi will decrease, especially killings, abuse, and rape of women and children.
According to local traditional healer, Solly “Baba Mahlasela” Mathebula, service delivery to Mamelodi will improve this year except in Ikageng and Phase 5 in Mamelodi East were residents will continue to push wheelbarrows to go fetch water.
The famous traditional healer from Mamelodi East Extension 4, who has been a practicing sangoma for more than 20 years, made headlines for training young white sangoma Kyle Todd and predicting in 2021 that Covid-19 would take many lives in South Africa.
Baba Mahlasela said the bones told him what 2024 holds for Mamelodians and the rest of the country.
He said better service delivery can be expected because of the upcoming elections, but power outages will remain.
The bones told him that gender-based violence in Mamelodi will decrease, especially for women and children. Killings, abuse, and rape will also decline due to plans to deny abusers bail.
“Crime will always increase due to unemployment and we’ll experience a lot of hijackings, robberies and fraud.”
He said drug crime will remain the same in Mamelodi, because of corruption in the police and higher-ups within the policing system.
“Residents will remain unhappy with the justice system claiming suspects are arrested today, released the following day.”

He said drug-use among the youth will rise and users will lose their mind before dying.
“The youth of Mamelodi need to be actively involved in sports. We need sports facilities to help keep the youth away from drugs, crime, and most importantly avoid teenage pregnancies,” he said.
He said the outlook for the South African economy is better, and the petrol price will decline.
As Baba Mahlasela continued reading the bones, he said two high schools in Mamelodi East and West will produce good matric results, and another school will underperform at less than a 50% pass rate.
He also said there will be a lot of development in Mamelodi and the R300-million Solomon Mahlangu Road upgrade will be completed this year.
He said the HM Pitje Stadium project will not start anytime soon due to infighting.
Asked about the upcoming national election, he said most people will not vote, especially the youth because they felt the government was failing them and he expected the ANC to lose another province.
He assured taxi commuters there will be no taxi industry violence this year. Instead, the taxi associations and the Mamelodi patrollers have resolved to fight crime in Mamelodi.
Turning to sport, Baba Mahlasela said Bafana Bafana will perform very well in the African Cup of Nations set to take place in Ivory Coast and reach the knockout stages.
“Mamelodi Sundowns once again will win the league and reach the knockout stage of the continental competition.”
He also said one of the amateur soccer teams in Mamelodi will produce a star for the professional ranks.
In health issues Mahlasela further said many children under 10 years will be admitted to hospitals suffering from stomach bugs and parents need to look after their children.
He concluded the community of Mamelodi needs to unite in fighting crime and have whistle blowers.
