Rietondale lights up the Moot with rugby, stalls and festival vibes
Attendees were treated to 7s rugby from 07:00 to 21:00.
Rietondale High School welcomed guests from far and wide to enjoy a day full of rugby and fun at its first-ever Moot Perseverance Festival.
The festival served to celebrate the school’s sporting achievements and also to unveil its new floodlights, courtesy of the school’s governing body, which allowed guests to watch 7s rugby all day.

While the games were underway, attendees were also treated to a variety of stalls.
The school’s security partner, Proshield, performed a joint exercise with SAPS where guests had the opportunity to see a full demonstration of their K9, equestrian and motorcycle capabilities.
Principal Debré Bam expressed her gratitude for the turnout, saying it was a successful initiative for the first time, vowing to make the festival an annual event going forward.

“It’s the first time and it’s so successful, so for that, I just want to thank everyone involved, the committee, SGB, the parents, staff members, maintenance, etcetera, but definitely not the last time,” Bam said.

Bam said the school looks forward to hosting its first athletics meet on October 1, where schools from around the province will compete in various sports.
