Hatfield streets closed due to music concert on Friday
Authorities advise drivers to use alternative routes as major roads around Loftus Stadium will be closed from Friday afternoon to Saturday early morning.
Due to a music concert at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, motorists in Pretoria travelling through Hatfield are advised to plan ahead, as several streets in the area will be closed on Friday, August 29.
Gates to The Scorpion Kings Live concert open at 13:00, and the main act runs from 18:00 to 23:30.
Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) spokesperson Isaac Mahamba confirmed that the closures will come into effect at 12:00 on Friday and remain in place until 01:00 on Saturday morning, August 30.
According to Mahamba, affected roads include:
– Lynnwood Road and Kirkness Street
– Brecher Street and Walton Jameson Street
– Walton Jameson Street and Villa Street
– Walton Jameson Street and Bond Street
– Bond Street and Farenden Street
– Maple Street and Ivy Street
– Maple Street and Myrtle Street
– Park Street and Beckett Street
– Arcadia Street and Farenden Street
– Arcadia Street and Eastwood Street
– Park Street and Farenden Street
– Park Street and Orient Road
– Park Street and Eastwood Street.
“Motorists are urged to avoid congestion by making use of alternative routes such as Francis Baard Street, Pretorius Street, Justice Mahomed Street, Stanza Bopape Street, and Jan Shoba Street,” Mahamba said.
He added that both TMPD and the SAPS will be on duty to monitor all affected streets and assist with traffic flow.
Mahamba added that the road closures were necessary to ensure the safety of concertgoers and motorists in the Hatfield area.
