Major clean-up drive revitalises Koedoespoort and East Lynne roads

The metro’s urban management teams cut grass, repaired lights, trimmed trees, and fixed potholes in the Moot and surrounding areas to improve service delivery.

In the latest Region 3 (central and western) Integrated Urban Management (IUM) Programme updates, the metro has turned its focus to the region’s main arterial roads within the Koedoespoort and East Lynne areas.

These include wards 52 and 84, in the Moot, which connects the city centre to Region 2 and Region 5.

MMC for Transport Tlangi Mogale, who was part of the team designated to address Region 3, said cutting grass along the long stretches of road has been a focal point for IUM teams.

Mogale added that the work is also being carried out in other wards.

“A great part of the operation was to revitalise the area by cutting grass along the long stretches of traffic island and road reserves, streetlight repairs, waste management, water and sanitation issues, and maintenance of street trees,” he said.

“On the sidelines of the Ward 84 IUM Programme, other service delivery activities took place in other wards, ensuring that daily work continues.”

During the operation, these results were achieved:
– 132 streetlights repaired
– 129 trees maintained
– 180 000 square meters of grass mown
– 119 potholes repaired
– 23 stormwater drains cleaned

Last week, Region 3 IUM teams rolled out cherry-pickers to trim overgrown branches that have been causing power outages in Ward 92.

The project was carried out by the Urban Forestry Teams, together with the Energy and Electricity teams in Region 3 in the Colbyn area.

Residents are encouraged to report all service delivery-related matters to the City of Tshwane contact centre on 012 358 9999.
