Salvokop Reservoir to undergo water supply interruptions for two days

The metro plans to replace faulty equipment along the reservoir.

Residents in and around Salvokop are advised that the Salvokop Reservoir will undergo maintenance this evening, leading to water supply interruptions.

The metro’s water and sanitation unit will replace faulty equipment along the Salvokop Reservoir water supply network during this time.

The said work is expected to begin at 22:00 on September 9, and should end by 02:00 on September 10.

It will lead to a water supply interruption affecting the following areas:

– Arcadia Ext 6
– Arcadia, west of Eastwood Street
– Muckleneuk, north of the railway line
– Pretoria Central, south of Visagie Street
– Pretoria Ext 15
– Pretoria Town and Townlands 351-JR
– Prinshof 280-JR
– Prinshof 349-JR
– Salvokop Ext 1, 2 and 3
– Sunnyside
– Trevenna

Residents are urged to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:

– Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00
– Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes
– Do not fill swimming pools
– Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators, where possible
– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern
– Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden
– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios
– Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or to wash the car
– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation
– Take a quick shower rather than a bath
– Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving
– Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.
