Tshwane health committee inspects Lotus Gardens Clinic
Committee members conducted an unannounced visit to assess service quality, staff challenges, and community satisfaction at the local clinic.
Members of the metro’s Health Committee recently conducted an unannounced site inspection at the Lotus Gardens Clinic.
Committee Chairperson and Councillor Peggy de Bruin said the inspection served as part of the committee’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services to residents.

De Bruin said the committee arranges these visits to gain a first-hand perspective on the operational status of the clinic, as well as the challenges faced, if any, by both the clinic staff and the community.
“On arrival, I was pleased to see that the security personnel are performing their duties, in terms of access control, which includes searching the boot of the vehicles that are entering and exiting the premises.
“During the walk-around of the clinic, we were able to inspect various sections of the facility, including the waiting areas, consultation rooms, pharmacy, and ablution facilities. The chairperson noted areas of good practice as well as those requiring urgent attention,” she said.

Additional meetings were held with the clinic’s management and staff to understand their daily operational problems, resource shortages, and professional challenges.
The chairperson also engaged with patients to hear their experiences regarding waiting times, the quality of care received, and overall satisfaction with the clinic’s services rendered.
Despite indicating areas with room for improvement, which will be prioritised by the committee, the residents’ sentiments were overall satisfactory.
“I would like to thank the staff for their tireless service and dedication, as well as the community for their valuable input. The City of Tshwane remains committed to strengthening primary healthcare across all its facilities,” De Bruin said.
She said the committee’s findings throughout the inspection will be escalated to the Health Department for further intervention.
