Metro police nets multiple arrests for drugs, stolen copper and immigration violations
Officers targeted cable theft, drug-related crimes and immigration violations in areas including Akasia, Centurion and Soshanguve.

The TMPD has recorded a series of successful arrests following co-ordinated crime prevention and enforcement operations conducted across various parts of the metro this week.
This comes after the TMPD Cable Theft Unit arrested a suspect in Klerksoord, Akasia, for possession of suspected stolen property.
Spokesperson Colonel Issac Mahamba said the arrest followed a tip-off about a scrapyard believed to be dealing in stolen copper cable.
Officers responded swiftly and conducted a search of the premises, where they uncovered a significant quantity of copper cable.
The owner of the property was unable to provide a valid explanation or proof of ownership for the copper and was immediately taken into custody.
He said in a separate operation in Centurion, TMPD officers, working in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, carried out a crime prevention operation in Lyttelton.
During the operation, eight suspects, six men and two women, were arrested for possession of drugs.
Mahamba said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes, which continue to pose a serious threat to community safety.
The TMPD Regional Policing officers also conducted a by-law enforcement operation in Soshanguve, specifically in the Winternest area.
“During the operation, 13 foreign nationals were arrested for being in the country illegally, in contravention of the Immigration Act.
“All suspects arrested during the operations were detained at the relevant local police stations and are expected to appear in court pending further investigation,” said Mahamba.
“These operations demonstrate the importance of acting on information received from the community and working together with other law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and security of residents.”

TMPD Acting Chief of Police, Deputy Commissioner Revo Spies, praised the officers involved for their dedication and vigilance in carrying out their duties.
