Back-to-school message inspires Moot learners

The Villieria police and community safety partners visited schools across the Moot to welcome learners back and motivate them with a ‘Believe in Yourself’ message focused on confidence, positive values, responsibility and lifelong learning.

Learners were recently told through a back-to-school campaign by law enforcement to believe in themselves.

This strong motivational message was delivered to several schools across the Moot at the start of the academic year.

SAPS Villieria Social Crime Prevention and Communication Unit were joined by representatives from the Child Protection Hotline, Brinant Security, AXON Security, Anibus Security, ADT Security, Mon Ami Trauma Troopers and the Villieria CPF during the campaign.

More than 20 primary and high schools were visited. These included Laerskool Queenswood, Kilnerton Primary, Laerskool Voorpos, Laerskool Totiusdal, Laerskool Lindopark, Laerskool Derdepoort, Sonitus, Curro High and Primary, Laerskool Villieria, Gereformeerde skool Dirk Postma, Eduplex Primary and High, as well as Via Nova.

Learners at Clapham High, HTS John Vorster, Hoërskool Oos-Moot, Hoërskool Staatspresident CR Swart and Hoërskool FH Odendaal also got turns.

The purpose of the visits was to welcome learners back to school, motivate them for the year ahead and reinforce positive values that support learning, personal development and safety.

The central theme of the campaign was ‘Believe in Yourself’, aimed at encouraging confidence, self-worth and a positive mindset among learners of different ages.

The message was adapted according to grade level, with younger learners receiving simplified encouragement and older learners engaging with themes such as responsibility, integrity, empathy, and leadership.

Speakers highlighted the importance of self-belief, respect for others, accountability and unity, while emphasising education as a lifelong journey.

Learners were encouraged to take ownership of their actions, support one another and make use of opportunities presented to them throughout the year.

Warrant Officer Marinda Austin from SAPS Villieria said: “The initiative forms part of ongoing social crime prevention efforts. When learners believe in themselves and their potential, they are better equipped to make positive choices and contribute meaningfully to their communities.”
