Two suspects caught breaking into Pretoria West Power Station

The metro police's Tactical Unit also arrested a suspected hijacker in Mamelodi who was in possession of a vehicle that was hijacked in Hartbeespoort.

The TMPD Tactical Unit recently arrested two men suspected of tampering with municipal infrastructure in Pretoria West on Saturday.

The suspects, believed to be Zimbabwean nationals, were in possession of burglary tools.

“The TMPD Tactical Unit responded to reports of a break-in at the Pretoria West Power Station industrial area,” the TMPD posted on their social media pages.

According to the police report, the officers searched the building and found two Zimbabwean men hiding in a tunnel.

The police continued, “They were arrested for trespassing and tampering with essential infrastructure.”

In a separate operation, officers acted on information regarding a green Toyota Legend 55 that had been hijacked in Hartbeespoort on January 30.

The Tactical Unit tracked the information to a residential address in Mamelodi East Ext 5, where officers discovered the vehicle parked inside a property.

A suspect was caught in the act of tampering with the vehicle, attempting to disable tracking devices and alter its identification.

The suspect was arrested for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and detained at the local police station.
