‘Tshwane is a dirty town’

According to Morné van Rooyen there is nothing good to think about now when it comes to Tshwane.

Pretoria will always remind me of Sunday walks in town, children playing in the streets, safety and security, a low crime rate, efficient personnel at city council, excellent service delivery, a clean town and so the list continues.

The opposite of that is Tshwane today, a rubbish dump, dirty town, squatters all over, people sleeping alongside the street, very unhygenic, double standards, corruption, terrible, or non-existent service delivery, very high crime rates, non-existent law enforcement, useless service at city council, administration in chaos, people hiding behind locked doors, no children risk playing outside and so the list continues. There is nothing good to think about now.

On Rekord 4 October, the front page showed a service delivery protest, with residents saying they were better off before 1995 and then on page 3 the mayor says what a wonderful town this is now. Mr Mayor, your sense of logic is completely screwed up. I think it’s time that you and your government wake up and smell the coffee. Like they say in the land of the blind, the one eye is king.
