Softball club excels

The newly formed Homespun Softball Club played their first ever softball game.

A scant two seasons ago, with four teams of children under the age of 14, the newly formed Homespun Softball Club played their first ever softball game.

This season, three of the seven teams made it through to the schools’ league final rounds.

The u.11 boys, u.11 girls and u.13A boys all made it to the finals. Eventually the u.11 girls and the u13A boys won their respective games and were thus crowned champions.

They will now compete in the Gauteng regional games later in October. Of the 90 homeschooled children currently playing for Homespun, nine were chosen for the Gauteng North provincial teams.

The club and all their teammates are very proud of these boys and girls, namely Carla Grobler, Richard Collins, Erco van Rensburg, Eden Newman, Eben Coetzee, Abian van der Meijden, Samuel Commons, Joshua Botha and Daniel Newman.
