Downs fans paint city yellow and green
The PSL champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, celebrated their Premier Soccer League victory with fans around Pretoria last Friday.
Thousands of people from all over Pretoria gathered at the Sammy Marks Square in the city centre last Friday to celebrate Mamelodi Sundowns winning the Absa Premier Soccer League championship.
The Brazilians clinched the title after defeating SuperSport United 3-0 at Loftus two weeks ago.
Downs began their victory parade in Nellmapius and proceeded to Mamelodi. The motorcade went through Mamelodi East and Far East before making its way through Mamelodi West, where they visited schools, malls and taxi ranks.
The parade then moved on to East Lynne, Hammanskraal, Hebron, Soshanguve, Mabopane, Winterveld, Mmakau, Ga-Rankuwa, Akasia, Atteridgeville, Pretoria West, TUT’s main campus and Marabastad before ending at the Sammy Marks Square, where the trophy was symbolically handed over to Mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa. The team also handed out free t-shirts to fans.
