Youngster is excited about boxing tournament
It’s not just the big guns that will be in action on June 6 at the Electric Storm boxing tournament. There are also a number of young men that could make a name for themselves at the tournament and Sibusiso Zingange, a young boxer from the HTS Tuine boxing gym, is one of them.
Great excitement already prevails in Pretoria about the Electric Storm boxing tournament that’s going to take place on June 6 in the Rembrandt Hall at the University of Pretoria’s sports campus.
However, no one is more excited than Sibusiso Zingange, a young boxer from the HTS Tuine boxing gym who is fighting in the super featherweight division.
On that night he will be involved in only the sixth fight of his pro career, but Zingange regards it as his big chance to announce himself to the South African boxing public.
Zingange made boxing experts to choke in their gin and tonics in April when he convincingly beat Nkosinathi Ntshangase in a fight over six rounds in Johannesburg. The interesting thing about this fight was that the boxing board of control eventually did not want the two boxers to fight against each other, because they believed that Zingange could get hurt. The argument was that Ntshangase, a veteran of 16 pro fights and a previous Gauteng junior lightweight champion, did not belong in the same ring than Zingange and that Zingange’s career would suffer serious harm.
Zingange’s experienced and wily coach Charles Backhouse, eventually convinced them that this young man is ready for any opponent in South Africa in the super featherweight division. The talented Zingange did not disappoint his coach and gave his more senior opponent a proper hiding in the ring.
Backhouse and André Thysse from Real Steal Promotions are very excited about Zingange’s future as a boxer. Thysse saw him as a raw amateur with incredible potential in the East Rand and he immediately decided to brought him to Pretoria to train at Bachouse’ gym. Although he was four times the Gauteng champion and once national champion as an amateur, he has improved dramatically since then. He now has five professional fights under his belt and is still undefeated in the professional ring.
The young Zingange, who has a great admiration for boxing legends such as Dingaan Thobela and Sugar Ray Leonard, is a natural athlete and at school he also excelled in football and as a 3 000m runner.
According to Backhouse Zingange has a most dangerous left hook for such a young boxer and he believes that his young student is destined to become a world champion one day. The young man is also dreaming of an international title belt to boast with in future, but for the moment he takes it one fight at a time. That is why he is so excited about his chance to be involved in such a prestigious tournament as the Electric Storm Tournament on 6 June.
