Cricket plays cupid to young couple
The Unlimited Titans cricket player Graeme van Buuren recently proposed to his girlfriend Hannah Oguz while in Amsterdam. The couple was brought together by the sport of cricket.
The Unlimited Titans cricket player Graeme van Buuren, who recently proposed to his girlfriend Hannah Oguz in Amsterdam, has described how their love for cricket brought them together.
Van Buuren and Oguz first met in 2011 when she began working as a cricket performance trainer at the University of Pretoria. However, it was only when the batsman returned from playing in Amsterdam in 2012 with a small injury and underwent rehabilitation with Oguz that the two really started to get to know each other.
“We couldn’t stop talking and laughing,” said van Buuren, “We just clicked in the three months I was recovering, and from there onwards we started dating.”
The 23-year old batsman planned his proposal to Oguz at the Amsterdamse Bos, including a scooter ride and lunch along the Amstel Canal in Amsterdam.
“We haven’t set a date for the wedding,” said van Buuren. “We want to give Hannah’s parents, who are Irish, enough time to plan for a trip to South Africa. “Family is very important to us and we want to ensure that we are all together to celebrate our special day, so it will probably be in December 2015 or early in 2016.”
