Supersport United aim to finish year in style

Supersport United are eyeing a home win over Polokwane City in their final game of the season at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday..

It has been a good year for Stuart Baxter and his troops having collected the Nedbank Cup in May.

They still would have preferred to win the Telkom Knockout two weeks ago to be on level terms with neighbours Mamelodi Sundowns.

Their last game saw them draw 1-1 with Cape Town City, the team they lost to in the Telkom final leaving Baxter frustrated that his side had missed their chance to take top spot in the log,

“The players put in a very good shift and were unlucky not to come out with a win. I thought we played decently in the first 10 and the last 10 minutes. The 25 minutes in between, we got our pressing wrong, our possession was wrong, we didn’t make good enough transitions, our movement was wrong, so we changed it.

“We knew there were areas we could expose because we played them last week and we did it well in the second half … Those three points could’ve put us at the top of the league [standings],” Baxter said.
