The world's most loved fun run will be returning to South Africa this coming weekend in Centurion. Find out which streets will be affected by the race.
Preparations for the fourth Wings for life world run (WFLWR) are well underway in Pretoria.
The world’s most loved fun run will be returning to South Africa this coming weekend in Centurion, starting from West Street.
Entries were limited to 5 000 people with the first 3 000 entries receiving a limited-edition Puma running shirt, WFLWR said in a statement.
The WFLWR is a unique, global sports event that takes place in 24 locations across 23 countries simultaneously, in varying light and weather conditions.
“This is the world’s only race that has no finish line – instead, a catcher car chases down participants, ending their race as the car overtakes them until one male and one female World Champion remains.”
The streets that are going to be affected are as follows:

On Saturday 6 May:
West Avenue in Centurion will be closed from 09:00 – 24:00
On Sunday 7 May:
– Lenchen Avenue to John Vorster Drive will be closed from 24:00 until 18:00
– South Road, Kwartsiet Street to West Avenue will be closed from 06:00 until 17:00
– Centaurus Road, West Avenue to Olievenhoutbosch Road will be closed from 12:30 until 13:45
– Olievenhoutbosch Road, Jean Avenue to John Vorster Drive will be closed from 12:30 until 14:00
– Olievenhoutbosch Road, John Vorster Drive to Nellmapius Drive will be closed from 12:30 until 14:00

– Nellmapius Drive, Old Johannesburg Road to Luton Street will be closed from 12:30 until 14:00
– Nellmapius Drive, Denel Dynamics circle to M18 will be closed from 12:30 until 14:00

– Glen Road, Midstream Drive to Nellmapius Drive will be closed from 13:00 until 14:15
– Main Road, Nellmapius Drive to Danie Joubert freeway will be closed from 13:15 until 14:30
– Botha Avenue, Danie Joubert freeway to Kruger Avenue will be closed from 13:15 until 15:30
– Hofmeyer Road, Botha Avenue to Kruger Avenue will be closed from 13:30 until 15:30
– Kruger Avenue, Hofmeyr Road to Trichardt Road will be closed from 13:30 until 15:30
