Young women cricketers want to make South Africa proud

South Africa Emerging prepare for the upcoming cricket tournament at the Mandela stadium in Hammanskraal.

The South Africa Emerging women’s cricket team is showing dedication and putting in a lot of hard work to make sure they are ready to represent their country.

Head coach, Salieg Nackerdien, said the team looked forward to representing South Africa against Bangladesh Emerging on 23, 25 and 28 July.

The young women who will represent South Africa were chosen from different provinces.

The team has been practising at Mandela Stadium in Hammanskraal and will host their second match from 31 July to 4 August.

“I would like to thank the community of Hammanskraal for the warm welcome and support we are receiving.

“To us, it keeps us going and working hard to win our matches and to make South Africa proud,” said Nackerdien.

Fitness trainers, Tshepo Mokwena and Neo Sekokotla, said they ensured that the team performed at their highest level.

Captain Nadine De Klerk of Northern Cape said: “I am happy to be one of the chosen players from my province. Although at first it [was] hard to adjust to different cultures we have in our team, we are working hard to make our country proud.”
