Proteas stay on top after series win
Proteas claimed a comfortable 2-0 series victory as they edged past West Indies by 8 wickets in the third and final test match at Newlands on Tuesday.

South Africa claimed a comfortable 2-0 series victory as they cruised past West Indies by 8 wickets in the third and final test match at Newlands on Tuesday.
The Proteas started the day with 9 for 1 in the second innings with Deal Elgar and Faf Du Plessis on the pitch needing a further 115 runs to win the match. Faf Du Plessis didn’t last long as he was surprised by Sulieman Benn’s delivery which popped off his shoulder to fall into the hand of Jermaine Blackwood at backward point.
Hashim Amla and Dean Elgar stayed on to see the Proteas claim an emphatic 8 wicket victory with Elgar hitting an unbeaten fifty in the process. ODI Captain AB De Villiers won man of the match with Test Captain Hashim Amla voted man of the series. South Africa won the first test in Centurion by an innings and 220 runs, the second match in Port Elizabeth was drawn after more than two days of playing time was lost to rain.
A series win keeps the Proteas on top of the ICC test ranking ahead of rivals Australia and England.
