South African junior soccer teams will seek to do better than the senior team when they compete in the African youth championship next week. Both teams qualified for their Junior division tournament in Mid-February and March respectively.
The u-17 soccer national team will travel to Niger where they will face Ivory Coast, Mali and Cameroon in Group B. Amajimbos as they are known, defeated Egypt 4-3 to book their place into the tournament. The tournament takes place from the 15 February to 1 March 2015.
The u-20 team have also qualified for the CAF African U/20 Championship. Amajita are drawn in Group B along with Mali, Ghana and Zambia. Amajita will go to the tournament with intentions of winning every game after they won the Commonwealth Cup last month.
Bafana Bafana failed at this year’s showpiece and their eyes are now on the junior teams to succeed with less pressure and attention on them.
