Supersport United ended Kaizer Chiefs’ unbeaten run of 19 league matches with a 2-0 victory at Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday evening. Matsatsantsa started the game positively with New Zealand international Jeremy Brockie firing his shot wide of goal after he combined well with Ryan Chapman in the opening stages.

Brockie found the back of the net towards the end of the first half, only to be ruled offside by the linesman. Mandla Masango also had a chance to open the scoring but he ballooned his effort wide. SuperSport opened the scoring four minutes into the second half through Brockie as he headed Chapman’s inch-perfect cross past Khuzwayo.

Chiefs could have levelled the proceedings but Tefu Mashamaite missed a chance when scoring looked easy. Amakhosi continued to push for the equaliser and Benard Parker came close when he hit a rocket shot, but his attempt only managed to hit the crossbar after Williams fumbled Erick Mathoho’s effort.

Substitute Dave Wome sealed the win for Supersport in the dying minutes of the game when he finished off a low cross from Thuso Phala to stun the Khosi supporters. The win put Matatsantsa in top eight position and a loss for Chiefs means their lead is cut to 10 points.
