Downs close gap on Chiefs
Sundowns defeated Amazulu 1-0 at the Moses Mabhida stadium to close the gap on Chiefs to 10 points.

Mamelodi Sundowns have closed the gap on Chiefs to 10 points with a 1-0 win over Amazulu on Tuesday night at the Moses Mabhida stadium.
Cuthbert Malajila scored the only goal in the 54th minute to give the Brazilians all three points and narrow the gap to 10 points.
Amazulu started well with Roscoe Pieterson firing wide of goal in the early exchanges of the match and Thabiso Dlamini shot straight into Dennis Onyango’s hands to leave the scores level in the opening 15 minutes. The Brazilians only started to get into the game when Mahachi crashed a low 25-yard effort against the upright with Amazulu keeper Aubrey Mathibe well beaten. Teko Modise had a chance to open the scoring just before the break but his effort went wide.
Amazulu started the second half strong, with Sadaye Ouro-Akoriko heading over a pinpoint Mark Van Heerden set-piece. Amazulu tried to find a goal but they were left exposed at the back and Mahachi took advantage of the situation when he made a run with the ball and found Malajila who had little problems finding the back of the net. Against the run of time Usuthu found themselves behind for the 20th time this season in all competitions. Amazulu searched for an equalizer in the dying minutes, but Bongi Ntuli failed to hit the target when he headed wide from a corner kick.
Sundowns are now in second place on the Absa Premiership league table with 37 points from 18 matches, they trail log leader Chiefs by 10 points but the Brazilians have a game in hand.
