The University of Pretoria soccer team managed a 1-0 victory over Maritzburg United with 10 men at the Tuks stadium on Sunday evening.

A lone goal from Atusaye Ndondo was enough to give the students all the three points and move them into the top half of the Absa Premier League table. Tuks got an early goal through Nyondo but they were dealt a major blow when Vuyisile Ntombayithethi got a red card for tackling United’s midfielder Kurt Lentjies in the middle of the park.

Maritzburg pushed on for the equalizer but the 10 men of Tuks survived the onslaught for an hour to get their seventh win of the season.

In the games that took place on Saturday, goals by Khama Billiat and Cuthbeth Malajila were enough to hand Mamelodi Sundowns a 2-0 victory over Free State Stars while SuperSport United lost to Ajax Cape Town 2-1.
