Soshanguve Derby ends in a thriller of goals
Battle of points between Sosha soccer giants.
Sosha Real Stars crushed Mike One 3-1 in a SAB Soccer League match on Sunday afternoon at Giant stadium in Soshanguve Block F. The game started at a lacklustre pace with both teams struggling to find their feet. It was a dull first half with few scoring opportunities.
In the second half, Sosha Real Stars managed to grab an early lead when Tumiso Morerwa scored the first goal in the 53rd minute. It took Mike One only ten minutes to get an equaliser when Thulani Mbethe scored. The goal changed the whole complexion of the game and the pace improved. Mike One started to attack Stars with their speedy wingers through counter-attacks. In the 63rd minute Stars captain Bheki Zulu missed a golden opportunity to make it 2-1 when his curling shot hit the upright with only the goalkeeper to beat.
In the 65th minute the home team scored again. This time it was their reliable striker, Dingane Rabotho, who dribbled past two defenders before slotting home with a low shot leaving the goalkeeper at his bay. The home team introduced their lethal striker, David ‘Tomato’ Mokgoko, in the 78th minute. Mokgoko made an immediate impact by getting a late goal from long range in the 84th minute.
“The game was tough and well-balanced,” said Zulu, captain of Sosha Real Stars. “We pushed them deep into their half. We caught them on the counter-attack because their defense was too slow,” he added.
The coach of Sosha Real Stars, Wonderboy Siluma, said: “We still have a lot of work to do. The team still needs more goals to avoid relegation. We hope the boys will finish the season in the top 10 standings.”
Sosha Real Stars will face Soshanguve Stars at Giant stadium on Saturday at 15:00.
