Tuks crashes out of the Nedbank Cup
Tuks were sent crashing out of the Nedbank Cup by Wits, going down 3-0 at the Bidvest Stadium on Tuesday evening.

University of Pretoria’s (Tuks) hopes of getting any football silverware this season were ended by Bidvest Wits on Tuesday night when Tuks lost 3-0 in the round of 16 of the Nedbank Cup at the Bidvest stadium, Johannesburg.
Goals from Cornelis Kwakman, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Henrico Botes booked a spot for Wits in the quarters. Tuks looked toothless and never seemed to trouble the solid Wits defense.
The match started slow with both teams feeling each other out in the opening 10 minutes, with the first chance of the match falling to Papy Faty but his shot went wide after receiving the ball from Vilakazi.
Tuks striker Thabo Mnyamane forced a fine save from Wits keeper Moneeb Josephs to keep the scores level. However, in the 35th minute Kwakman volleyed home the opener from a corner kick which the Tuks defense failed to clear. Tuks nearly replied immediately but were again denied by a fine save from star keeper Josephs to ensure that Wits go into the change room one up.
Wits came out of the tunnel with intent and hunger and it was no surprise when Jabulani Shangwe provided a sublime cross to Vilakazi, who made it 2-0 in the 55th minute. The contest was ended with 27 minutes to go when Botes scored a cracker from 20 yards out.
SuperSport United will battle Orlando Pirates for a spot in the quarters at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening while Mamelodi Sundowns will travel to Rustenburg to take on Platinum Stars on Sunday afternoon at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
