George Lebese’s case of assault on his girlfriend has been postponed to 23 April while his bail has been extended. National prosecuting authority (NPA) said on Thursday.

The 26-year-old football winger was arrested in February for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Silverton, he was later released on R1 000 bail. He also faces a charge of malicious damage to property. Lebese is expected to feature in the Kaizer Chiefs match against Raja Casablanca in Morocco on Saturday evening.

Spokesperson Velekhaya Mgobhozi said Lebese appeared in Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday but the case was postponed due to the outcome of the representation. “We are still reviewing the case and looking into the matter”.
