The Northerns KFC Mini-Cricket festival at the Supersport Park in Centurion on Saturday brought together kids from different schools for a day of fun.
Sponsored by KFC, the day gave over 500 young kids from different schools around Pretoria and Centurion an opportunity to learn the basics of cricket.
About 1 400 children were expected to attend the festival but due to bus strikes, only 30% made it to the festival.
Despite the low turnout, the day was still filled with fun and excitement as wickets fell left, right and centre.
The Titans duo Mangaliso Mosehle and Tabraiz Shamsi taught the pupils basic cricketing skills.
Spinner Shamsi said he was excited to be part of the event.
“It is a great initiative by KFC to have kids come here and have fun. It is a great way to get the kids to play and grow their skills. The future looks bright for SA cricket, the young ones just need to have fun and keep working hard,” he said.
Mosehle also had a few wise words for the KFC Mini-cricket kids.
“I started playing at the age of six through this initiative. This is a great platform for them, they must use this opportunity to enjoy themselves and never stop loving the game,” he said.
