Sport Highlights 30 October to 1 November

South Africa's final rugby action for the season takes place this weekend when the Springboks play against Argentina for third place bronze medal at this year's Rugby World Cup on Friday night.

While the Springboks have only the bronze medal game at the Rugby World Cup remaining this season, South Africans attention will probably be spread across the wider spectrum of available sports this weekend.

Rugby

Although the entire South Africa will be disappointed that the Springboks could not reach the final of the World Cup, there are still a little pride left to play for when they take on Argentina in the play-off for the bronze medal of the tournament.

This game will take place on Friday night and kick-off time is 22:00 (SA time).

Cricket

After the Proteas won both the T20 series and the One-Day international series against India, the important test series will start later (5 November) next week. Meanwhile the South African touring team will play against an Indian Board President’s XI in the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai this weekend. The game starts on Friday 30 October.

The local T20 series, the Ram Slam T20 Cricket Challenge also starts this weekend. In one of the first games, the Unlimited Titans takes on the Dolphins at SuperSport Park on Sunday afternoon. The action starts at 14:30 (SA Time).

Athletics

The Capital city active athletics club will present the Amakhozikazi half marathon and ten kilometers race this weekend. The race also includes a 5km fun run. The race starts and finishes at the Union Buildings. Both the half marathon (21.1km) and the 10km race will start at 06:00, while the 5km fun run will start at 06:05.

Soccer

All three the local premiership teams will be in action in this important league this weekend. Mamelodi Sundowns is first in line when they take on Maritzburg United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Mamelodi on Saturday night. The game starts at 20:15.

On Sunday 1 November two of the local teams play at exactly the same time, but in different cities. AmaTuks will take on Platinum Stars at home in the Tuks stadium at 15:30. At the same time, SuperSport United will run out in the Goble Park stadium in Bethlehem, Free State to take on Free State Stars.
