Currie Cup playoffs moved

The current Currie Cup season has officially been extend this week because of SA Rugby's fear that the Test between the Springboks and the All Blacks on 8 October in Durban could clash with a Currie Cup semifinal game.

SA Rugby confirmed in an official statement that Currie Cup Premier Division semi-finals and final will be moved back by a week to avoid any potential clashes with the Castle Lager Rugby Championship Test between the Springboks and All Blacks in Durban on Saturday, 8 October.

The semi-finals were initially scheduled to be hosted on 7 and 8 October respectively, and the final a week later, on Saturday, 15 October.

The semi-finals will now move to the following weekend, while the Currie Cup Premier Division final, as well as the SA Rugby Under-19 and Under-21 Championship finals, will all be played on Saturday, 22 October.

The Currie Cup First Division and the SA Rugby Under-20 Championship finals remain unaffected and will still be played on Friday, 7 October.
