Tuks women are USSA sevens champions again

Tuks women sevens rugby team was again crowned champion in the annual USSA tournament.

The Tuks women sevens rugby team was recently crowned champions of the University Sport South Africa (USSA) Sevens Rugby Tournament for the second year in a row.

The Tuks women were drawn in a group with University of Limpopo and Walter Sisulu University, and beat both rivals 44-0 and 50-0 respectively in the group phase.

In the semifinals Tuks beat University of KwaZulu-Natal 31-0 to reach the final without conceding a point.

In the final Tuks experienced slightly more resistance against University of Johannesburg but were still able to win 40-12.

According to their coach, Riaan van der Merwe, his best players for the tournament were captain Libbie Jansen van Rensburg, Sanlie van den Brink, Caylyn Greyling and Nolwazi Hlabangani.
