Titans still top of standings in Sunfoil series

Despite the fact that the Titans’ Sunfoil Series match against the Knights rained out last weekend, they still cling to their lead on the log in this tournament.

Rain and the chasing pack were the big winners in the Sunfoil Series title race as the top-of-the-table clash between the Knights and the Titans was abandoned early on day three at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein last week.

No play had been possible on the opening two days due to the wet conditions and even though the forecast was much better for the weekend, there was still rain hanging around on the third morning leaving the umpires little choice.

The result means that both teams walked away with five points apiece – enough for the defending champion Titans to stay at the summit.

Fortunately for the Titans, the game between the Dolphins and the Warriors in Durban also resulted in a draw after rain also shortened the duel.

The Knights have dropped to third behind the Dolphins in the course of the current round, but only 10 points still separate the top five.

The Titans’ next match against the Highveld Lions starts on 12 January and will be played at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.
