The Varsity Cup celebrated a decade of exciting and entertaining rugby in 2017 and it was decided to select a Dream Team again this year.

In 2015 the premier intervarsity competition introduced the Varsity Cup Dream Team concept which saw standout players being selected in the team of the tournament to play in an exhibition match against the Junior Springboks in preparation for the World Rugby Under-20 Championships.

The match will be played on April 25 at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch. Kick-off will be at 19:00.

Following the final of the Varsity Cup at Tuks Stadium on Monday night, Varsity Cup founding member François Pienaar announced the 23-man squad.

The team was selected by a panel of independent selectors, who decided which players have been stand-out performers in their respective positions throughout the competition. The team will be coached by the winning Varsity Cup coach Pote Human and his two assistants from Tuks.

The new champions, Tuks, dominated the team with seven representatives in the starting lineup.
