Comrades athletes have only a few days to confirm qualification
The time runs out for Comrades athletes to qualify for this year's race.
The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has issued a call for Comrades Marathon runners to urgently submit their qualifying details to the CMA office.
Athletes intending to participate in the 2017 Comrades Marathon have been urged to get all qualifying and other information to the CMA’s IT & Entries Department before 2 May.
CMA Race Director, Rowyn James, has cautioned that athletes failing to submit the requisite information by the due date will not be allowed to take part in this year’s 47th up-run.
Qualifying races must comply with the ASA rules, technical standards and the Comrades Marathon qualifying criteria. Those runners who have not already supplied qualifying details during the entry process will need to submit their club name, license number and qualifying race details by no later than 2 May.
This can be done by email, online through the Comrades website or via telephone on the CMA office number, which is 033-897-8650. 0
James has advised that qualifying details will not be accepted at the registration points in Pietermaritzburg or during the Comrades Expo in Durban. Failure to meet the qualifying criteria will result in an athlete’s entry being rejected.
Runners are further advised that no seeding upgrades will be accepted after 2 May and particularly at registration. Therefore, such athletes will not be able to participate and their details will be removed from the database.
The 92nd Comrades Marathon will be held on Sunday, 4 June, starting at the Durban City Hall at 05:30 and finishing 12 hours later at the home of the Golden Horse Casino – the Scottsville Racecourse.
