Pretoria to hosts a major squash tournament

Hundreds of squash players, as well as officials and spectators, will gather in Pretoria this weekend for the completion of an annual interprovincial squash tournament.

This coming weekend Pretoria will host one of South Africa’s biggest annual squash tournaments.

A total of 69 teams with 360 players will be representing various provinces, regions and representative national teams.

Provinces such as Border, Gauteng, Eastern Gauteng, Free State, Kwazulu-Natal, Midlands, Limpopo, Northerns, Vaal Triangle and Western Province will be represented, while other teams such as SA Country Districts, SA Police Services and SA National Defence Force will also be part of the action.

Several provinces will also enter senior teams for the senior league.

The tournament starts on Friday, September 6, with the official opening and will be played over four days, ending on Tuesday, September 10.

On Friday, all players, officials and other stakeholders will gather at the Pretoria High School Old Boys Club for the registration process and the official opening of the tournament.

The action will start on Saturday and it will be presented at various select venues across Pretoria. These venues include the Pretoria Country Club Squash Courts, TUKS Squash Courts, Glenwood Squash Club, Pretoria High School Old Boys Squash Club and Adelaars Squash Club.

This action will continue on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and each day’s action will take place in two sessions.

There will be a morning session daily from 09:00 to 12:30, while the afternoon session will run from 13:00 to 16:30.

Following the action on Monday 9 September, the annual general meeting of the South African Masters Squash Association will also be held at the Pretoria High School Old Boys Club at 18:00.

On Tuesday night (10 September) this prestigious tournament will conclude with a closing function at 18:30 at the Voortrekker Monument Restaurant.
