Battle of the Warriors 5 boxing tournament postponed

Boxing fans received disappointing news on Wednesday when it was announced that the Battle of the Warriors 5 boxing tournament, which was supposed to take place this coming Sunday in the Sun Arena in Pretoria, has been postponed indefinitely.

The fifth Battle of the Warriors boxing tournament, which would have taken place this coming Sunday (October 6) in the Sun Arena in Pretoria, was postponed indefinitely.

According to the promotor, 5th Element Promotions, a logistical problem led to the postponement of the tournament.

A statement from the promoter explains that the tournament must be postponed due to “overcommitment of scheduling” from their new broadcast partner, SuperSport.

Top South African boxers like Thabiso Mchunu and Chris Thompson would have been in action at the tournament on Sunday, while an official fight for the SA middleweight title between Walter Dlamini and Nkululeko Mhlongo was supposed to be the main bout on the night.

“We will be able to announce the new date for the tournament the moment all parties have been able to align program schedules and diaries,” said 5th Element Promotions in their press release.

In previous tournaments, which successfully brought professional boxing to Pretoria’s boxing lovers, 5th Element Promotions was in partnership with the continental TV channel, Kwesé Sports.

This 5th Battle of the Warriors tournament is the first of this series in which SuperSport would have been involved.
