Aiden Markram’s third consecutive century gives Titans a chance against Cobras

A third consecutive century by Aiden Markram and a great innings by Neil Brand kept the Titans' chances alive in their game against the Cobras at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

Aiden Markram was again a mainstay for his team with another 4-Day Domestic Series century as the Momentum Multiply Titans hit back on a rain-hit second day of their clash against the Cobras in Centurion on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The dashing right-hander, fresh from back-to-back tons in the previous game against the Warriors, ended his innings on 113 off 192 balls when he eventually was dismissed by Calvin Savage.

The emerging versatile player, Neil Brand, has shown with his batting and bowling against the Cobras that he is at home at this level.

The home side, who were replying to a total 411 by the visitors, eventually ended Tuesday on 136/1 – trailing by 275. They continued to build on this and by tea time on Wednesday afternoon the home team’s first innings score was on 292/3. Markram was kept company by Neil Brand and the pair added an unbroken 106 for the second wicket. The promising newcomer continued to fight on Wednesday. At tea time, he was still there with his score on 76. After Dean Elgar’s (9) departure, Theunis de Bruyn achieved his best score in two games with his contribution of 35. Sibonelo Makhanya (35) joined Brand and the two’s partnership stood at 28 by tea time on day three.
