On Saturday, July 2, Loftus Versfeld will host the biggest crowd to ever watch a test match between the Springboks and Wales on South African soil when the two sides meet in the opening match of the 2022 Castle Lager Incoming Series.

The stadium will be packed to the rafters this coming Saturday, after all tickets for the test between the Springboks and Wales were sold out on Tuesday.

Already by Monday morning the upcoming game had been penciled into the history annals after having surpassed the largest crowd figure recorded in South Africa for a test match between the Boks and Welsh Dragons.

At Fortress Loftus in 2004 the match attracted a crowd of 43 920. In 2008, the figure was also not too far off as 43 393 people came through the gates at the Pretoria venue.

“It is a great milestone for us to host an capacity crowd at Loftus Versfeld for such an important game. To be able to do this after a period of over two years where spectators have not had the opportunity to fill sporting venues to full capacity is incredible,” said Blue Bulls Company CEO, Edgar Rathbone, on Tuesday.

Get to the game with the Gautrain

Special Gautrain busses will operate between Hatfield Station and Loftus Versfeld, with commuters being dropped off and picked up in Orient Street, north of the stadium.  Gautrain buses and trains will operate until normal operating times, which is 21:00.

Fans coming to the stadium are encouraged to arrive at the venue early.

There will be plenty of pre-match and post-match entertainment at Loftus Versfeld on the day.

The match will kick-off at 17:05. Gates at Loftus Versfeld will open at 13:00.
