Pretoria family excels at Midmar Mile

The Albertyn family from Pretoria has done it again – they are still the Midmar Mile's top family team.

The well-known Albertyn family from Pretoria confirmed their legendary status as participants in South Africa’s most famous open water swimming competition, the Midmar Mile, which took place again in KwaZulu-Natal this past weekend.

The Albertyns secured top honours in the family race. Dad Gary  reaffirmed his status as one of the true legends of this event when he first finished in a speedy 19 minutes 36 on Saturday and then completed his 200th Midmar Mile in the open race on Sunday.

His son, Connor (right), finished fifth in a time of 19,16 minutes in the men’s open race on Sunday.

The two ladies in the family also did their part to seal their victory. Daughter Kaitlyn finished in a time of 23:37 with mom, Megan, crossing the line in 24:01.
