Four Zimbabwean men were arrested on Wednesday after they allegedly helped a man kidnap his seven-year-old daughter, police said.
Warrant Officer Annabel Middleton said the kidnapping happened in front of the Waterkloof Primary School around 07:30 on Wednesday.
“The little girl, Pura Pahlo, was in the car with her foster mother. They had just stopped in front of the school when four men, posing as police officers, approached the vehicle.
“The men told the woman she is arrested for kidnapping. The biological father of the girl, Ray Pahlo, meanwhile opened the passenger door and grabbed the girl before he fled.”
Middleton said the father was driving a beige 230E Mercedes Benz with registration number SPR947GP.
“The father has an American and British passport, he might try and cross the border to Lesotho or Zimbabwe.”
Anyone with information was urged to contact Warrant Officer Middleton on 0787044191.
Pura has been living with her adopted parents for the past six years.
“Ray has tried al least once a year to take Pura from us. Every year he shows up with a lawyer to take Pura.
“I think he finally realised that he would not be able to take her legally that is why he kidnapped her,” Evan Andreou, Pura’s adopted father said.
Andreou told Look Local that they have posted Pura’s picture all over social networks in the hope that someone will recognise Pura and contact the police.
“Please don’t hurt Pura just bring her back safe,” he begged.
