Five hijackers are on the run after they hijacked and robbed a cigarette truck in Val de Grace on Monday morning.
The Silverton police are on the hunt for the five hijackers who fled the scene at approximately 07:00 in a silver Audi and a white single cab bakkie.
No one was injured during the armed hijacking.
“The suspects forced the driver out of the truck at gunpoint. They sped off and drove in a convoy until they reached Meyers Park where they offloaded the cigarettes,” Warrant Officer Mike Mbewe, police spokesperson, said.
He said the estimated value of the stolen goods are R350 000.
No arrests have been made.
