Power still off after additional faulty cables were found
Parts of Riviera and Rietondale still without power after two additional faulty cables were discovered.
Parts of Riviera and Rietondale are still without power after two additional cable faults were discovered Monday afternoon.
Lindela Mashigo, spokesperson for the Tshwane metro, said after technicians managed to restore electricity supply to some areas of Riviera and Rietondale, they noticed the two additional faulty cables after they switched on the electricity.
“Technicians are busy repairing the additional faults. It is now anticipated that power should be restored by Tuesday at midnight. The city apologises for the inconvenience caused to the affected residents,” Mashigo said.
An irate resident who wishes to stay anonymous said the 24-hour deadline had been going on for the last three days.
“First the metro said 24 hours and now three days later we still have to wait another 24 hours,” she said.
According to residents, the power went on for 15 minutes on Sunday and then for an hour on Monday.
“Now we are without electricity again. I had to give some of my meat away because I have nowhere to store it,” she said.
