Load-shedding to disrupt water supply

Water supply will be disrupted in various areas due to Eskom's load-shedding, Tshwane metro said on Monday.

Eskom‘s deliberate power cuts are likely to disrupt water supply to several areas, the Tshwane metro said on Monday.

Spokesperson Selby Bokaba said load-shedding, to be introduced at 16:00 on Monday, would interrupt operations at the Magalies water purification plant from time to time. The power cuts were scheduled to last until 22:00.

“According to Eskom, the power interruptions will last for intervals of two to four hours per day as determined by the state of power capacity available to the national grid on a period that is to be announced,” said spokesperson Selby Bokaba.

He said Magalies water would, where possible, seek to minimise the inconvenience caused by power cuts.

The following areas may suffer water supply interruptions:

• Cullinan

• Rayton

• Hammanskraal

• Areas in the Moretele Local Municipality

• Areas in the Belabela Local Municipality

• Areas in the Modimolle Local Municipality

• Wallmansthall

• Roodeplaat

Bokaba said: “Consumers are requested to use water sparingly during this period in order to prevent prolonged water supply interruptions. Residents’ patience and understanding will be highly appreciated during this period.”
