The highly anticipated blockbuster Independence Day: Resurgence makes a bang at cinemas nationwide, including Nu Metro Menlyn Park and Woodlands in Pretoria, from Friday 24 June.

This sequel comes 20 years after the original and promises to deliver massive special effects, intense action, over-the-top adrenaline and adventure from another galaxy.
In 1996, director Roland Emmerich launched a new era for the disaster movie genre with Independence Day, which became a massive box office hit and seared itself into the public’s imagination with its story of aliens destroying major landmarks and humanity finding a way to fight back.
In Independence Day: Resurgence, it is 20 years since the original attack. Earth’s inhabitants have banded together like never before to rebuild and work on using captured alien technology to address many of the globe’s other problems, including environmental issues.
Armed forces also have new weapons to deal with any further attacks; and not a moment too soon, as the aliens are back in force.
David Levinson (Goldblum), now the head of the Earth Space Defence initiative, is in the front line of figuring out how to tackle this vast new challenge as even bigger spaceships arrive to threaten the world with destruction.
Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring the world back from the brink of extinction.

Independence Day: Resurgence will be showing in 3D and 2D, as well as in the Scene Xtreme cinema at Menlyn Nu Metro.
Scene Xtreme features next generation, digital 3D projection through RealD’s precision white screen technology; delivering a much sharper, brighter and more realistic image compared to other standard 3D cinema screens.
The film will also be showing in the Xtreme cinema with superior, world-class Dolby 7.1 sound.
