Pretoria-West residents enjoyed a local carnival in on Saturday morning.
The Party with a purpose money-raiser carnival started at 9:30, hosted by the Holy Cross home in
Suiderberg.
A variety of items were on display for residents to buy, with the money going towards the home.
The Holy Cross home is a residential frail care centre and hospice institute.
It is owned and managed by the Holy Cross Sisters, catering for all racial groups and denominations.
“We also provide outreach programmes in disadvantage areas and informal settlements, such as Plastic
View,” sister Emmanuel Matron of the centre, said.
“We have been doing outreach programmes since 2000 and provide the following help. Home based
care, children’s programmes, skills development and youth programmes.”
The Holy Cross home was established in 1984 with the closure of the Holy Cross nursing home, a
maternity hospital at the time.
“The idea among other things came as a response to the need for an old-age home for the retired, sick
Holy Cross sisters.”
